Agriculture

Agriculture, especially the Christmas tree industry, significantly contributes to Ashe County's economy. Ashe is one of the top Christmas tree-producing counties in the nation and frequently sends a Christmas tree to the White House, the most of any county in the US. In 2021, there were over 14,000 acres of Christmas trees and greenery in cultivation, resulting in $115 million in sales.

Other notable agriculture products include $12 million in livestock and $7 million in pumpkin production. Ashe County's temperate climate and arable landscape make it a haven for agriculture. In 2021, factoring in all parts of this sector, it contributed $141 million to the area's economy.
